GRILL RESIDENCE

LOCATION: FUSCHL, AUSTRIA

DATE: 2001

PROGRAM: SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE

SIZE: 1200 SM

After completing the Zooom building in downtown Fuschl, a live-work environment that was outgrown by the clients and their business (see Zooom building-commercial), the Grill family and their parents combined resources to construct a residential complex near the Fuschl Office. The new houses are on the border of a landscape protection area and therefore subject to a slew of design and building guidelines. Constructed more conventionally (concrete, brick and wood shingles) the houses strike a balance between the traditinoal vernacular architecture and the expression of the active, modern lifestyles of Ulrich, Nikki and their two children, as well as their parents. The contractor BSU and our office worked directly over the internet to update plans and to keep abreast of the changes.
