BREITENLEERSTRASSE HOUSING
LOCATION: VIENNA, AUSTRIA
DATE: 1997
PROGRAM: HOUSING, 124 UNITS
SIZE: 73,902 SF
Located on the outskirts of Vienna's XXII District, within walking distance of the traditional village core of Breitenlee, this new housing development of 124 units was plannned collaboratively by Roland Hagmuller and Mark Mack. Each architect brought their own distinctive style to arrive at a common design solution. Design strategies drew upon the urban context of the site.
The shape and form of the eastern building block acts as a border between the existing, heterogeneous developments of suburbia to the west and the park to the east, creating a differentiation from the old village core of Breitenlee.
