KANEKO BOWTRUSS GALLERY
LOCATION: OMAHA, NEBRASKA
DATE: 2007
SIZE: 10,000 SF
PROGRAM: GALLERY, EVENT SPACE
The first phase build-out of the KANEKO is the Bow Truss Gallery; a former automotive warehouse converted into a large gallery and event space. The space was restored to minimal essentials and serves as a generous creative space for downtown Omaha. To enhance the original features of the large space, all architectural and infrastructural additions are subdued and integrated into the existing structure. The reflective concrete floor enhances the expansive open space. In contrast, the simple plywood clad office and restroom volume continue the minimal and utilitarian aesthetic. The space serves as a venue for performances, lectures and art installations.
